Neotel would spend R11 billion in the next 10 years on infrastructure development and maintenance while stimulating organic growth, chief executive Ajay Pandey said yesterday. The fixed-line operator was keeping an open mind on acquisitions and expanding to the rest of Africa, but it was not in a hurry, he said. "The telecoms industry is a money-sucking business, we will spend on infrastructure," Pandey said. On Neotel's contribution to the economy, he said: "We have created 1 100 direct jobs and of those only nine people are from India.
