Roads: EU bank lends Sanral €120m

The European Investment Bank (EIB) had loaned the state-owned SA National Roads Agency (Sanral) e120 million (R1.37 billion) to help fund the upgrade of roads, the bank said yesterday. Sanral plans to spend R24bn over the next five years to improve road networks, particularly around industrial hub Johannesburg. The EIB said: "The projects are of strategic importance to South Africa's transport infrastructure." - Reuters
