Italy: Vespa factory for Vietnam
June 25, 2009

Italy's Piaggio opened its first factory in Vietnam yesterday, aiming to produce 100 000 Vespa scooters a year, said Piaggio president Roberto Colaninno. The $30 million (R247m) plant would make 125cc and 150cc Vespas. "Vietnam (has) high gross domestic product growth, young generations and the number of scooters is one of the biggest in the world," Colaninno said. The plant would hire 350 workers. - Sapa-AP
