MTN group finance director appointed

Johannesburg - Nazir Patel will succeed Rob Nisbet as MTN's group finance director, Africa's largest mobile operator said on Monday.
After 14 years of service, Nisbet has decided to pursue other business interests, MTN said.
"Rob Nisbet has made a significant contribution to MTN," Phuthuma Nhleko group president and CEO of MTN Group said.
Nisbet would continue to be part of the transaction team working on the MTN/Bharti transaction, the statement said.
He would remain on the MTN board as an executive director until the end of September 2009.
According to MTN's annual report, Nisbet earned a R5.75 million bonus in 2008.
Patel's appointment would become effective on October 1, 2009, MTN said.
Patel joined the MTN Group in 2005 as group executive finance. - Sapa
