HCI: Seardel gives earnings boost

Hosken Consolidated Investments (HCI) reported a 17 percent rise in full-year earnings yesterday, helped by growth in its media business and its stake in textile firm Seardel.
HCI, which has a stake in free-to-air broadcaster e.tv, said headline earnings a share totalled R2.954 for the year to March.
Revenue was R8.45 billion, a 14 percent increase from the previous year. The company, whose diverse operations include hotels, casinos and mining, said it was hit by one-time items related to its acquisition of a majority stake in Seardel Investment Corporation.
HCI shares were up 0.5 percent at R79. - Reuters
