AngloGold Ashanti has formed an alliance with closely held United Arab Emirates investment firm Thani Dubai Mining to develop mines. The companies planned to look for, develop and operate mines in north Africa and the Middle East, AngloGold said yesterday. The firms would jointly fund acquisitions and exploration, and AngloGold would develop and operate projects that went into production. Gold explorer Thani is currently working on concessions in Yemen and Egypt. - Bloomberg
