African clean energy projects may triple  Comments

Carbon emission reduction projects in Africa were expected to almost triple in value this year from 2008 figures, Standard Bank said yesterday.

Project values might climb to €2 billion (R20bn) in 2010 from €700 million in 2008, said Geoff Sinclair, the head of carbon sales and trading.


A study estimated Africa "has the potential to produce over 700 million carbon credits a year from clean energy alone," said Sinclair. - Bloomberg
