Johannesburg - MasterCard Worldwide on Monday announced that it has appointed Anthony West as general manager of MasterCard Africa.
West will be responsible for advancing MasterCard's business throughout Africa.
MasterCard said in a statement that this will include the development of strong relationships with both existing and new customer financial institutions and associates, as well as the expansion of the brand across the continent's rapidly growing economies.
West joined MasterCard in 2000 and has been instrumental in implementing the group's customer-focused strategies in existing and new markets across Africa, MasterCard said.
MasterCard president Andre Sekulic said: "The increasing size and sophistication of the African payments market has created an excellent opportunity for MasterCard to strengthen and expand its presence throughout Africa."
