Medihelp Medical Scheme has denied that it is merging with Liberty. This follows a report to this effect in yesterday's Business Day newspaper. "This is not true and... misprinted," the firm said. "As one of the few local self-administered schemes, Medihelp ended the 2008 financial year with a solvency ratio of 35.85 percent and a net surplus of R190.8 million, well above the required solvency level of 25 percent set by the Registrar of Medical Schemes." Medihelp assured stakeholders, members, brokers and staff it was not merging with Liberty Health or any other party in the near future. - Sapa
