UK: GSK posts 11% surge in profit October 29, 2009
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) lifted third-quarter net profit by 11 percent on the back of strong sales in emerging markets and at its consumer health division, the drug maker said yesterday. Net profit rose to £1.44 billion (R17.9bn) for the September quarter. Revenue rose 15 percent to £6.76bn. GSK expected further improvements in the fourth quarter with "significant sales" of its flu vaccines. -Sapa-AP
