AVI's revenue for the quarter to September was in line with the previous year after it had been constrained by lower consumer disposable income, Angus Band, the chairman of the listed food company, said yesterday. Lower selling prices for I&J's products in Europe and price reductions in grocery categories supported volumes. In the year to June, AVI's fashion brand Spitz had difficulties as demand for luxury items fell, but volumes in Spitz were sound for the quarter. - Florence De Vries
