Construction: Strike costs Diesel Power
October 16, 2009

By Roy Cokayne

A two-month strike by a significant portion of the workforce that disrupted several operations of Diesel Power, a subsidiary of listed Buildmax's mining services business unit, resulted in the firm losing about R95 million in revenue and severely dented its interim financial results. Buildmax said yesterday that the industrial action at Diesel Power was over, no contracts were lost during this period and operations returned to full productivity from August. The company's core headline earnings a share for the six months to August were expected to be between 4.4c and 5.3c. - Roy Cokayne
