GERMANY - BMW output up for X1 roll-out
October 8, 2009

BMW ended months of output cuts as demand picked up and it prepared for the new X1 compact sport utility vehicle, the car maker said yesterday. BMW has boosted output at its Leipzig factory to a record 730 cars a day from 600. The plant's 2 600-strong workforce has gained 300 temporary employees and 200 more from other German sites as it ramps up X1 production for the model's roll-out later this month. Plants worked special shifts last month to keep up with demand. - Bloomberg
