ADCOCK INGRAM - Fast-moving items key to competition
October 7, 2009
Adcock Ingram, the drugs maker, planned to bolster its fast-moving consumer goods portfolio to compete with former parent Tiger Brands in some categories, its officials said yesterday. "We cannot be like Tiger Brands, but we'll compete with them on certain categories," Jonathan Louw, the group's chief executive said, adding that the firm's long-term plan was to double sales contribution of fast-moving goods to 20 percent. Adcock, which was spun off from consumer goods maker Tiger Brands, left behind most of its fast-moving consumer goods, such Ingram's Camphor Cream, during the unbundling. Adcock bought personal care and supplements company Tender Loving Care this year, which would be a stepping stone to launch other personal care goods. - Reuters
