Johannesburg - Retail sales fell for the fourth month in a row in May, Statistics SA said on Wednesday.

The Pretoria-based agency said May's retail sales declined by 4.2 percent year-on-year at constant prices from a revised contraction of 6.9 percent in April.


The data indicated that declining employment and the country's recession have curbed consumer spending. - Sapa
